COUNCIL NOTES 3/26/13

GREENWOOD; 7:00PM; Mike Elenbaas, David Anema, Eric Likkel, Mark Nelson, Rennie Araucto; missed Biff, Teresa, Kristen

·       Determined Agenda

·       Reviewed Mar3 Road Crew mtg. re: Groundworks, including Pastor Eric’s reflections w/David Anema, Kristen VanderLinden; agreed on several proposed next steps, to be outlined in pastoral message to Road Crew

·       Prayer Renewal –Suellen to be thanked and encouraged for leading pre-worship prayer every Sunday; Council encouraged to join as able; Council approved idea of Pastor scheduling specific prayer parties for segments of church – ideas include prayer parties to support marriage, parenting, employment issues, Children’s Ministry leaders; members suffering from sickness, illness, disease, UGM members, intercession subjects (Missionaries, other ministries, etc.); pastor/family; explore TED TALK format as way to warm up, engage

·       Dads’n’Dudes – Paul Lewan organized good gathering; hoping to see more soon

·       Sunday Volunteers – coffee; volunteer overload – deferring to Kristen VL for feedback

·       Children’s Ministry – reviewed All Ages Sundays, Pastor Likkel encouraged to try Godly Play approach, using props, speaking directly to seated kids in group (successfully carried out on Easter); Leadership pairing plan – deferred conversation; wall panels for Godly Play need attention, perhaps on GROUNDWORKS Sunday?

·       Worship, music – Biff/Maria doing great with setup; still good idea to seek backup volunteers who understand setup/takedown routine; task Biff to recruit; Council appreciated Pastor Likkel’s chart re: Sunday attendance

Visibility – sidewalk signs look great; continue to push for building signage; online presence still needs much work/attention

·       ABCD event report – Emmaus Road served well; nice write-up on city blog to share

·       Kingdom Enterprise Zone; Evangelism Beyond Sunday event being planned via new, expanded cluster network; explanation of KEZ online worth sharing; Pastor Likkel recruited to help lead efforts; goes along w/Emmaus Road’s stated desire to pursue being “Rooted and Linked”

·       Small Groups; New Horizons dinners - continuing

·       End of Year Road Crew – Volunteer Appreciation and financial update to be scheduled for June ?

STEWARDSHIP TEAM NOTES 3/26/13

·       Eric: Filing report to Neighborhood Matching Fund; recoup $1000 soon from March 9 ABCD event (completed as of 4/8/13)

·       Mike: Bank account fluctuates between low $20k and high $20k.  Generally Emmaus Road is sustainable. That said, church has not met giving level budgeted for Acts 6 Fund.  Barring sustained higher levels of giving, stewardship team will adjust budget for Acts 6 Fund down to levels we have been sustaining throughout 2011-2012.

·       Discussed annual cost of living adjustment for Eric. Last cost of living adjustment made July 2012. Decided to postpone decision, monitor giving for next few months before taking action.

·       Action items:

- Mike send summary of meeting for Eric to weave into eWeekly (completed)

- Ryan pay Bell Andersen $653 before April 3 (completed as of March 27)

- Eric will send correct membership number to Ryan for classis calculations of ministry shares

- Eric will check w Bell Andersen about correct address and give them email (completed as of 4/1/13)
