“Clearing the Table” and “Resetting the Table”
This February meeting is about addressing current business, issues, loose
ends, etc. (“clearing the table” of what is already there); next meeting to be
scheduled as longer meeting over dinner, where we tackle issues having to do
with our ministry realignment, and how to realign our leadership structures,
attitudes, and expectations, to help Emmaus Road move in the right direction
(resetting the table). Eric to contact all with
potential dates.
Pastoral Roles/Admin. Support?
· Eric shared that he has about 8 hours per week contracted to First Seattle
CRC, another 8 plus hours with the Kingdom Enterprise and Cluster leadership
assignment; 32 hours for Emmaus Road; beyond these 48 hours of ministry, also
teaches music at DigiPen and home, and takes gigs.
· Eric shared list of tasks preferably delegated as he has cut back to 32 hrs
per week. Council decides to try to have members cover these tasks and roles,
rather than jump into another paid staff position:
- eWeekly/blog/fb - 4hrs per
week
- announcements: finance,
attendance, calendar, Theology Pubs, etc.
- lections
- Sunday volunteer crew
- pictures
- articles
- input new recipient addresses
Eric will announce in eWeekly; see if two or
three members step forward to share this;
- New Horizons Dinner - 4hrs per
month
keep on small group leaders’ radar
- recruit others
- make sure meal is covered
Biff offered to take this
- Council coordination -
4hrs per month
- schedule mtgs.
- secure location
- publish agenda/notes
No
volunteers yet
- Seattle School Liaison -
2 hrs per month
- stay updated on School’s
calendar
- communicate re: issues
Biff offered to take this, too
- Eric also shared which tasks he
aims to continue focusing on:
- worship planning/coordinating
(with Mark Nelson)
- leadership development
- preaching (mostly)
- strategic development
Pulpit
· All agreed Matt Wolfe doing a fabulous job!
· Being given a $100 stipend per service
· Eric relayed that Matt’s theater schedule may conflict with Sunday mornings
for a stretch; uncertain when that will begin.
· April 12th, Eric scheduled to preach in Shoreline AND Seattle
School is unavailable to Emmaus Road; perhaps a good opportunity to join the
two congregations together for a day?
Finance
· Mike optimistic over all
· Currently, Emmaus Road paying bills; almost at budget level
· Mike explained that we have neither paid Denominational Ministry Shares,
nor Classis Pacific Northwest Shares
· Eric explained that these “ministry shares” – like dues – support ministry;
Emmaus Road was supported for the first three years of her life via
denominational ministry shares through the national Home Missions agency
· All agreed that Eric should regularly draw attention to White
Box
Seattle School update
· Extended lease conversation still needs to happen; Eric to schedule
· Everyone hopes stability leads to growth somehow
Prayer Chain Boost
· Eric conceived of having seven members pray, one day at a time, for fifteen
minutes each. Content would be provided via a multitude of streams.
· So far, David Anema, Mike Elenbaas, Kristen Vander Linden, Erin Fullner,
Eric Likkel, and (as of Wednesday afternoon the 11th), Angie R. all
willing. One more person will give us seven people (biblical number of
completion)!
· Eric to follow-up with suggestions/calendar for structuring this prayer
effort
